SRA-TX continues to make substantial investments to promote recreational opportunities by strengthening Toledo Bend’s aquatic ecosystem and improving fishing on the reservoir.
In 2023, SRA-TX along with volunteers from Texas Parks and Wildlife and Texas B.A.S.S. Nation constructed and deployed 100 artificial habitat structures into Toledo Bend Reservoir.
These artificial habitat structures have been scientifically studied and proven to be effective at attracting large numbers of fish. The goal of this project is to provide opportunities for successful fishing trips for the public when visiting Toledo Bend Reservoir. The coordinates of the deployment locations will be made available via the TPWD and SRA-TX websites.
GPS Coordinates for the 2023 deployed structures:
20- Haley’s Ferry: 31.72961, -93.82158
20- Patroon: 31.50764, -93.75727
14- Pendleton: 31.47104, -93.75264

Last June, SRA-TX also released 77,000 Florida Strain Largemouth Bass Fingerlings into the reservoir and have committed to release more later in the year.
The Sabine River Authority was created by the Legislature in 1949 as an official agency of the State of Texas and covers all or part of 21 counties in East Texas. The Authority serves as a conservation and reclamation district with responsibilities to control, store, preserve, and distribute the waters of the Sabine River and its tributary streams for useful purposes.
To volunteer for the habitat project please RSVP to Andrew Mills, amills@sratx.org before 3/15/24.
