Lakeview Campground was busy this afternoon, with several campers setting up for the weekend. A father and son pitched a tent, while a young lady and her pup enjoyed a camp fire. Toledo Bend Lake certainly shows off it’s size along the banks of Sabine National Forest.
Lakeview Campground is located on Toledo Bend Reservoir. This campground offers 10 camping sites with a table, grill, tent pad, and garbage can at each site. Water is available from two centrally located hydrants and the area has portable toilet facilities. It is a trailhead for the Trail Between the Lakes. The area is owned by the USFS Sabine National Forest and operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas.
From Pineland, Texas, follow FM 2426 east for 10 miles; turn right (south) on Highway 87 for 3 miles; turn left (east) on FM 2928 for 3.5 miles to the end of the paved road; follow signs to Lakeview (approximately 4 miles).
